That's why our environmental commitment extends beyond compliance and focuses on environmental management practices that increase efficiency and minimize pollution and waste. Sustainable Use of Resources

• Whenever possible, materials and lumber are purchased from vendors within a 500-mile radius.
• Over 70% of wood purchased is from harvesters of Forest Stewardship Council® Lands.
• Products are designed for durability and optimal reusability.
• Our composite wood contains 80% to 100% recycled content.
• Steel generally contains 100% recycled content.
• Brodart uses lean manufacturing processes that help eliminate waste.

Waste Reduction and Recycling

• 100% of our wood waste is recycled via use by secondary sources (e.g., fuel or animal bedding)
• 100% of Brodart's steel scrap is recycled.
• 100% of waste cardboard is recycled.
• Approximately one ton of paper waste per month is recycled.

Air Quality and Emissions

• Our UV finishing process is 100% free of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and hazardous air pollutants (HAPs).
• Metal furniture and parts are powder coated using a system 100% free of VOCs and HAPs.
• Waterborne sealer and topcoats with low VOC and HAP levels can be requested on other furniture items.
• Our state-of-the-art dust collection system collects all wood dust generated by the furniture plant, filters the air, and returns it to the plant, thereby saving heat.
• Brodart complies with stringent CARB guidelines.
